About Wayward Wayfinders

Real trips. Honest reviews. Places worth the drive.

Wayward Wayfinders is a family travel publication built from places we have actually visited and the questions we want answered before we go. Is it worth the drive? Where do you park? Are the restrooms decent? Is there cell service? What will make the day easier?

Based in Virginia, we explore state parks, museums, historic sites, scenic drives, roadside stops, and the occasional delightfully strange detour. We use our own photographs, share what worked and what did not, and include the practical details that are easy to overlook until you need them.

01

Firsthand reviews

Destination Reviews are based on trips we have actually taken. Planning ideas and future destinations are labeled as such.

02

Useful details

Parking, restrooms, accessibility, cost, timing, cell service, and the small details that can shape an entire outing.

03

Honest disclosure

Wayward Wayfinders may earn through affiliate links, partnerships, press passes, or hosted experiences. Paid, comped, or sponsored elements will be disclosed clearly. Compensation never guarantees a favorable review.

Where we wander

Virginia first, with Appalachia just around the bend.

Our current coverage centers on Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic and Appalachian region. New places are added after we visit, photograph, and have something genuinely useful to share.
